Most VR headset owners will have bought an app or game they were genuinely disappointed with. In most cases, getting a refund is practically impossible. Owners of the Samsung Gear VR are in luck, though.A little while ago, Oculus introduced a refund system for this headset online. The digital marketplace allows users to demand a refund for purchases within 14 days. A brave venture, to say the very least.

Samsung Gear VR Purchase Refund

It is good to know there is a way to get your money back for a purchase related to the Samsung Gear VR. This VR headset is a great way to introduce more people to virtual reality. However, not all apps and games are worth the price of admission, based on personal preferences. This is why Oculus decided to build in a refund policy for all digital marketplace purchases related to the Samsung Gear VR.

Most people are aware of 14-day refund windows for digital purchases. Platforms such as iTunes and Steam have had this feature for quite some time now. Anyone who makes a Samsung Gear VR app or game purchase can get a refund within 14 days. However, the program in question can’t have been used for more than two hours. Otherwise, people would constantly get refunds for purchases they enjoy and game the system in the process.

It is important to note this refund policy does not extend to films and bundled content. Individual apps and games are fine, but everything else is off limits. That decision makes a lot of sense and helps keep things organized for Oculus as well. Every refund should take five days maximum, although most transactions are settled in less time. Hopefully, this refund policy will introduce more people to VR in the process.

It will be interesting to see if other service providers implement similar changes. For now, the Samsung Gear VR is the only VR headset to benefit from a refund policy. It would make a lot of sense if HTC and even Sony did the same, although that doesn’t appear to be the case right now. Given the overwhelming amount of “mediocre” apps and games in VR right now, it is evident there will be a lot of refund claims to process on every platform.
